What you will learn:

  1. Overtraining: The what, why and so what? There is a fine balance between sufficient training to improve performance and skill and a training load that may cause harm to the athlete’s health and performance. What are the key features of overtraining?
  2. Practice intensity: Quality not quantity. The silver bullet of any training programme is not the quantity of the training, but the quality. Quality of training has a far bigger effect on performance than any other variable. The session identifies practical ways to get the best out of an athlete using intensity as a goal. We will provide solutions and a structure to adopt to ensure your athlete gets the right exposure. Half the duration and frequency of training, increase the intensity and you improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
  3. Creating working relationships between coach and athlete: To successfully implement effective training programmes, coaches need to understand the individual player at all levels, to build trust and co-create empowering and learning training environments.
